We have a busy weekend ahead. Thankfully my workday went smoothly and I was able to call it quits right on time. Now, for the second time in three months, I’m about to spend the next three nights at Rogers Arena.
Tonight: Warriors vs Mammoth lacrosse
Tomorrow: Canucks vs Flames hockey
Sunday: Canucks vs Blue Jackets hockey
CBJ! CBJ! CBJ!
It’s good timing, too, because I feel like I’m in a bit of a reading slump. As you know, our library is currently closed for renovations (only about a week left to go, thank GOD) and we were allowed to check books out for ten weeks as a result of the closure. I think two things are happening right now:
- I’ve read most of the books I was really excited about and now I have all these less exciting options and lukewarm feelings about them.
- I’m leaning hard into my desire to limit my consumption to the things that make me feel good. I was listening to some podcasts this week and they were talking about exercises on self-reflection and personal growth. While listening to another one of them this morning, I thought, “THAT! That is the kind of thing I want to be reading!”
I can’t decide how to resolve my situation, but I think I need to go through my borrowed books and take a whole bunch of them back, keeping only the ones that really excite me. Or maybe I need a reading break. Or maybe I’ll wake up feeling totally differently in the morning.
What are you up to this weekend? Do you have a secret to coming out of a reading slump?
