Mini-vacation

I’ve been feeling a little worn out lately. Mostly things are fine, but I just need a little mental break. Once I gave it some thought, I realized that I haven’t had a vacation since February and it’s about time. Without realizing it, I was kind of holding out for our trip to Toronto. I have a bunch of vacation time booked already in August, October, November and December, but there were still a bunch of outstanding days as well. The weather has been great and I’m feeling that summer vibe, why not take a few days to relax? I’m doing it.

So, next week we have the Canada Day holiday on Monday, I’m going to work on Tuesday and then I’ll take Wednesday-Friday off. I’m not great at breaking away when I’m in town even if I’m off work and I’m really trying to prepare in a way that means I’ll be able to just totally remove myself from work for those three days.

My ultimate fantasy, if I’m entirely honest, is a vacation where I get to move around town, visit a few places I haven’t been or don’t go often, and basically do a tour of coffee shops and park benches with a book in my hands.

My first (only?) step in planning was executed today. I’ve got a date with my favourite aesthetician for some pampering. That’s the very first thing I’ll do on Wednesday morning and then it’ll be playing it by ear from there.

I think I’m going to make a little list of other things I want to accomplish, but they’re going to be super limited to being 1. achievable and 2. enjoyable.

Are you taking summer vacation this year? What are you planning to do with your time off?
